🎥 Eating an Alien Spiky Ball: 🤍 🔥 Lanjia Lodge: 🤍 👕 T-shirts and caps available now: 🤍 CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - Welcome to Lanjia Lodge (🤍 in the mountains, near the Mekong River, in the remote far northern province of Chiang Rai, Thailand. Lanjia Lodge is an eco lodge that supports the local hill tribe village community - and there are two main people ground, the Lahu, and the Hmong people. While staying at Lanjia Lodge, we arranged one day to visit the Hmong village where the Shaman and his family invited us for a huge celebration local meal. Now I’ve had Hmong food before a number of times, but this was by far the most extensive and diverse Hmong meal I’ve ever had. Hmong are known for being hard workers, their amazing farm practices, and sometimes their simple - yet fulfilling food. It’s not uncommon to have a Hmong meal that includes boiled vegetables and rice. But today was something truly special and magnificent, a Hmong celebration feast! Just to name a few of the dishes this amazing Hmong family made - roasted duck, pounded green taro stems, an herbal mixture with chicken organs, black chicken soup, boiled black chicken, boiled pumpkin, Hmong chili dip, and Hmong rice - which is a high mountain growing variety of Hmong rice. We also had a chance to see some of the food being prepared. I was especially fascinated by the pounded green taro stems. I’ve had green taro stems before, but usually cooked. This was my first time to eat them raw and pounded into a chili dip. It was sensational, life changing to be honest. The entire meal was outstanding, so fresh, so natural tasting - and quickly to mention that just about every single food we ate and ingredient was from the mountain grown and raised by them. The flavors were vibrant, everything tasted so natural and real. The black chicken was slightly chewy and full of flavor, the duck was marinated and roasted. And all the natural vegetables like the pumpkin were maximum sweetness. The chili dips were outstanding. It was a meal I will never forget, and thank you to this amazing family for their hospitality! Another great part of this Hmong village food experience is that by staying at Lanjia Lodge and by arranging local tours like this, you are able to directly support the community through community tourism. Huge thank you to Lanjia Lodge (🤍 for arranging this. Highly recommended. The lodge is incredibly beautiful and relaxing. We loved our stay. 🎥 Giant Breakfast at Home-stay: 🤍 👍 100% Real Durian Chips - Order Here: 🤍 Joel’s Channel: 🤍 Mon Jam (ม่อนแจ่ม) - Located just an hour from Chiang Mai city, Mon Jam (ม่อนแจ่ม) is an amazing mountain village known as Mon Jam (ม่อนแจ่ม), which is predominantly home to a Hmong community. One day, along with my friend Joel, we decided to take a drive to Mon Jam, enjoy some amazing scenery, fresh air, and delicious local Hmong Food from the mountains. #Thailand #travel #Hmong We started off, and first enjoyed the amazing views and viewpoints once we arrived. Then we headed to the market to walk around. First we bought some fruit - they have a great selection of less tropical, and more fruits that need elevation and cooler weather to grow - like melons, citrus, and egg fruit. Fruit was incredible. Located at the Mon Jam (ม่อนแจ่ม) market, we went to check out a restaurant in the parking lot. The ladies were extremely friendly, and we asked if they could cook us a local off-menu Hmong meal. They cooked an incredible selection of local dishes, including plenty of vegetables from the mountain, a chicken soup, and probably my favorite dish - a chili dip with lemongrass, chilies, and herbs to eat with blanched vegetables. Total price - 440 THB ($14.03) including a few dishes not shown in the video Di BOSCO Coffee Specialist (🤍 - One they was back to Chiang Mai, we stopped at Di BOSCO Coffee Specialist, what is easily one of the best coffee shops in Thailand. The atmosphere, the location, and the coffee are all superb. Samoeng (สะเมิง) - We took the long way to drive back to Chiang Mai, also so that we could have a circular route. Along the way back, we stopped quickly in Samoeng (สะเมิง) and visited the local market. Visiting Mon Jam (ม่อนแจ่ม) makes a great day trip from Chiang Mai - offering fantastic views of the mountains, and some delicious local home-cooked food. Thank you for watching, hope you’re having a fantastic day! 🎵MUSIC: 🤍 —————————————————— 🍌100% Real Durian Chips - Order Here: 🤍 👕Get t-shirts and caps: 🤍 —————————————————— 📱FOLLOW: Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍

One of my favorite local destinations within one day's drive of Chiang Mai, the village of Doi Pui is a completely unique place. Besides the obviously beautiful natural scenery, this village is also home to a very special dish (*Chiang Mai's BEST 'Khao Soi'*), its a local source of delicious local Chiang Mai grown coffee, and finally, if you speak a few more words of Hmong language than I do, its one of the few easy-to-access places you could go to practice with some new friends! Not just one of our most well-liked videos, its also just our own personal favorite location for Khao Soi in ALL of Chiang Mai (🤍 As you enter the village, enjoy the cool market that has grown up around the parking lot, a place to buy many vegetables that you literally cannot find anywhere else (they are grown up here at 1,400m, but also as these are ingredients in Hmong recipes (not Thai), the amounts you'll discover here as well are just incredible! Totally unique. Moving past the market, the actual village of Baan Doi Pui holds many other surprises waiting for the local day-tripper as well. For myself, coming up at least once a week on my bicycle, I am always amazed at how quickly the scenery can change as one makes their way into the foggy forests above. The national park area here is free of charge, and we could make not just one more but several more videos detailing ALL the different types of things you can do up here (camping, hiking, home-stays, of course a local food tour of either Thai and/or Hmong food, and finally dirt-biking/MTB, or also even unique bird-watching/wildlife exploring tours). Finally, after enjoying a beautiful lunch with Uncle Surin, and possibly a fascinating purchase of some fruits and vegetables you may have not EVER seen before in real life, make your way into what I am calling a miniature 'Lord of The Rings' garden. Walk past the market, up to the top of the cement roads, and down into this little paradise of colors and greenery. Not an easy trip to get up here, but worth it EVERY single time. Enjoy!! See you for the next one. Love Joel and Li LOCATION: The flower garden is past this restaurant.... :) 🤍 COST OF ENTRY: 10 Baht per person (0.35$US)

I walked through the Hmong village in Mt. Doi Pui on the west side of Chiang Mai city. The village is lined with coffee and wine shops, shops selling and renting folk costumes, shops selling handmade souvenirs and shops selling silver accessories. On the west side of the village, there was a flower garden planted in pieces and a small waterfall, which was visited by Thai tourists as an Instagram spot. We strolled around the Khmu village for a little while before we packed up and headed to a Hmong village not too far away. When I reached out to you during my trip to Laos and asked you for suggestions one what I should eat or cover, many of you said I should try Hmong food. Now Hmong restaurant are not that common, so the best way to eat Hmong food is to go to a local family home and have them cook. Along with Alex from White Elephant Adventures (🤍 he was able to arrange it for us. Our Hmong meal was buffalo, all types and variations. The two main and favorite Hmong food dishes they made were raw buffalo with a huge amount of bile, and cooked buffalo with raw blood. We also had some buffalo stew, soup, and roasted buffalo. Probably the most fascinating thing to me about Hmong culture and food as opposed to most of Laos is that Hmong typically eat white steamed rice as opposed to sticky rice. And unlike just about every other culture I’ve witnessed in Asia, where you get your own bowl of rice and share all the side dishes, in Hmong culture you have a communal bowl of rice and share everything. It may seem different to Western culture, but it really brings out a sense of family and community. The food was awesome, all things buffalo. I especially liked the raw buffalo with bile, that was the best Hmong food of the meal. It was an amazing day and I learned a lot about Hmong food, a quick introduction. I rode a motorbike to the mountains just south of Luang Prabang in Laos to find a Hmong village! I got lost on many dirt tracks but finally made it to ban long lao. Ban long Lao, is a village of just Hmong people. The Hmong are an ethnic group thought to have originated from Mongolia. Little is known of the ancient origin of the Hmong people. The Hmong people have had a turbulent past. Predominantly living in the jungle to live in peace. They don’t come from any one country and live in Thailand, Laos, China, Myanmar. They helped the Americans against the communists during America’s “secret war”. They would help soldiers, fight in the jungles to secure safe zones and search and rescue downed American pilots. To the Americans they were heroes that never got their recognition. America denied any involvement for many years until eventually granting tens of thousands of Hmong refugees. Many Hmong were left in the jungle living in fear once the Americans lost the war. I go to visit a village that a group of Hmong have inhabited since 1979. They are very welcoming and kind. I had such a good time here, I could have stayed for the night but decided against it. WANT TO SEE MORE CONTENT? 🎥 Giant Mangoes: 🤍 🌶️ Subscribe for NEW VIDEOS every week: 🤍 🌾 Ozone House - Mon Jam (บ้านโอโซน ม่อนแจ่ม): 🤍 Mon Jam (ม่อนแจ่ม) is a beauty mountain village in the Chiang Mai province of Thailand, just about a 1 hour drive from Chiang Mai city. It’s a predominantly Hmong village, and they are known for their amazing terrace farming up the side of the steep mountains. #vegetarian #vegan #plantbased #HmongFood We spent a night in Mon Jam at Ozone House (บ้านโอโซน ม่อนแจ่ม), and the owners of our hotel were so nice and friendly. They kindly cooked us a local Hmong meal, which was completely plant based / vegan and and every day style meal. It was delicious! First we went to pick some ingredients from the garden - string beans, pumpkin shoots, chilies, and a type of Hmong coriander - I think it was a wild coriander, I’m not totally sure? Hmong food is known for being simple, but fresh and from the land. And that’s exactly what this meal was - it mainly consisted of a variety of boiled and sautéed vegetable soups, one plain, and one flavored with a good amount of black pepper. The freshness and natural taste of the vegetables is what stood out. But my favorite part of this Hmong food meal was without a doubt a very simple, and extremely tasty chili sauce Aunty made with wild coriander, fresh chilies, and salt. It was so simple, and so extremely good! Thank you again to the amazing family from Ozone House - Mon Jam (บ้านโอโซน ม่อนแจ่ม): 🤍 for cooking this amazing meal for me! Thank you for watching and hope you’re having a fantastic day! 🎵MUSIC: 🤍 —————————————————— 🍌100% Real Durian Chips - Order Here: 🤍 👕Get t-shirts and caps: 🤍 —————————————————— 📱FOLLOW: Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍

A community tourism training project in the Sapa region of Northern Vietnam operated by Capilano University (North Vancouver, Canada) and Hanoi Open University (Vietnam), and supported by the PATA Foundation. The project features tourism training to help sustain vulnerable ethnic cultures and maximize benefits of tourism to rural villages in Northern Vietnam's Sapa region. Training is done by Capilano and Hanoi Open University volunteer students and faculty. This video is an introduction to the village of Lao Chai and the community of the Black Hmong that live there. Hmong Village, Laos, people & Children in Hmong, Hmong Luang Prabang, Laos travel guide, Laos people Travel Videos (Subscribe Now) 🔔🤍 Hmong villages in Laos are one of the best cultural treasures protected that appeal to the international guests who want to learn the culture of the ethnic minority group in an authentic way. “Land of a Million Elephants” has three main groups of ethnic minority namely the Hmong, the Khmu, and the Lao Lum. In particular, this post can ignite your spark of interest in the traditional way of life in the so-called Hmong village. Most of the Hmong people are in the north of Laos It’s uneasy to trace the history of the Hmong people, but scientists believe that this group used to migrate from the Mongolia Steppes to Southeast Asia. Around half a million of the Hmong live in the mountainous areas in the north of the country. Particularly in Luang Prabang, there are various little Hmong villages to get around. One of the most notable sites is Long Lao Mai Village, which takes a 30-minute drive from the UNESCO City. The Hmong people follow animism and shamanism You will not see the pagodas or any Buddhist sites when visiting a Laos Hmong Village because they practice animism and shamanism. In that sense, Long Lao Mai Village in Luang Prabang has a spirit area for practicing magic, and the tourists are not allowed to enter that area. As usual, these villages will be led by the old villagers (the headmen) who master their traditions, rituals, and principles. The Hmong houses are open for homestay Lots of foreigners have experienced the homestay in Laos by staying overnight at the remote Hmong houses. The trip also covers some interesting and different things like taking shower in public, having meals with the local hosts, and sleeping in the minority houses. Some of the Khmer food will be served during the family mealtime, and you will get chances to get to know the family you stay with. The discovery of culture, history, and Hmong food makes your journey full of stories to write down. The homestay with Hmong ethnic minority group in Laos lets you meet some of the most amiable people on this earth. This is time to build friendship and exchange culture. The Hmong celebrate their New Year on December 13 It is lucky that you can attend the Hmong New Year Festival on December 13 upon your arrival. On the festive days, people will wear their colorful Hmong traditional dresses and cook their traditional food for the celebrations. To celebrate the beginning of the New Year, the entire village will together kill kitchen and cook it to serve everybody at night. The dinner also has eggs, as a tradition. The festival might last up to 10 days when the locals are all happy, which inspires and cheer up the visitors. Trek to the Hmong Villages and See Pristine Tourist Attractions in Laos Often, the trek to the off-the-beaten-track Hmong villages includes time for discovering the nearby tourist spots. Namely, trekking to Long Lao Mai Hmong Village in Luang Prabang has the highlight of the enthralling Kuang Si Waterfall in which picnic, nature sightseeing, and Nature Photography are all amazing. Even the birds’ songs or the sounds of the waterfall can make you feel like entering the paradisiac land, without the city madness. So if you want a different way to travel to Laos, think of trekking to the hidden Hmong Village, and Long Lao Mai in Luang Prabang is a great recommendation. The ecotourism, cultural discovery, and homestay experiences in the ethnic minority houses will turn to be the distinctive stories for you to tell others and save for yourself until old age.
