Not only will Mat be comparing their looks on both the outside and inside, but he’ll be taking them for a drive, launching them to 60mph and taking a look at their power output & range to see which comes out on top. When it comes to stats, they’re all relatively similar. We’ve got our hands on the range-topping Volvo and Audi, which put down 408hp & 299hp from their respective 75kWh & 77kWh battery packs. As for the Tesla, we’ve got the entry-level model here as it’s better matched to these two, with a 70kWh battery putting down 384hp. For the latest Audi Q4 e-tron pricing and information: 🤍 Fair Purchase Price: 🤍kbb.com/car-values/ So you’re in the market for an EV but you want a little more pizzazz for your budget… well I may have an option for you.That option would be the Audi Q4 e-tron, and if you’re saying “hmm, that looks eerily familiar”, well that’s because this entry level Audi EV shares components with the VW iD.4 under the Volkswagen MEB platform so it gets the same batteries, electric motors, and some of the look… but with some added Audi spark like matrix design LED headlights, a large mouthy grille, and e-tron embossed on the front and rear bumper so people know you’re riding on some electrons. For even more style points, the Q4 e-tron has a Sportback variant with a sloping roofline and rear spoiler if you’re into that kind of look.In terms of size, if you were thinking that the Q4 is between the Q3 and Q5 well you’d be Q right. Although, thanks to it’s EV set-up, it may look small but this could possibly give space in the Q5 a run for its money. That EV system consists of an 82 kWh battery pack that powers the rear wheels in the single motor set-up called the 40 e-tron, or all wheels with a dual-motor configuration like our tester here, the 50 e-tron, and there’s standard DC fast charging capabilities up to 150 kW so if you’re in a rush, you can get a 5 to 80% charge in about 36 minutes. That’s enough time to watch 3 or 4 KBB videos.That Battery pack layout allows for some very workable cargo room and comfortable interior space. Behind the second row there’s 24.8 cu-ft of space and fold down the 40-20-40 rear seats for 53 cu-ft.Inside the cabin, the Q4 e-tron accommodates quite well.The cabin of the Q4 has a relatively modest vibe for an EV. There is a premium feel with soft materials up top and plastics at the bottom, but there’s a quality fit and finsish with plenty of angles to give this interior a futuristic look. Those range numbers are similar with most of the other luxury compact suv EVs, so then comes the question: “would you want more power for less range?” Around corners, the Q4 has a playful attitude. There’s not much body roll in this compact crossover EV and steering feels precise. The low center of gravity thanks to the battery pack in addition to the AWD helps you feel planted to the road. There are (4) different drive modes to help customize your driving experience, and paddles behind the steering wheel allows you to select your regenerative braking feel. However, if you’re looking for a one-pedal drive in this EV the closest you’ll get is B mode which is located on the shifter for maximum braking regen. Ride comfort is good, minimal wind noise, cabin is quiet even with the large wheels, steering feels light, and brakes do feel a little bit squishy, but this works well if you’re looking for an EV with a refined ride, quiet cabin, and you can possibly have a little fun around town. Pricing for the Q4 e-tron now starts at $48,800 plus a destination charge for the Premium 40 e-tron trim with the single motor rear wheel drive, and $53,800 for the 50 e-tron version with dual motors and AWD. In the US, there is also a RWD model, the Audi Q4 40-etron with the same size battery but less power, 201 horsepower and more range, 265 miles.The Audi Q4 comes standard with LED headlights, available Matrix design headlights, LED taillights, heat insulating side and rear windows, high gloss black and chrome exterior accents, aluminum roof rails and 19” wheels, available 20”. The aerodynamic design of the Q4 features a low drag coefficient of 0.28 minimizing resistance. The Audio Q4 provides ample interior space and storage including, dedicated bottle holders on all four doors. There is a mix of hard plastic, piano black and soft materials including, leather seating. The integrated 10.1” touchscreen and 10.25” digital driver display gives it an upscale feel. The all-wheel drive 50 powertrain isn’t as efficient, with an estimated range of 236 miles for the squareback model and 242 miles for the Sportback. The Q4 e-tron 50 we tested on our 75-mph highway route achieved 190 miles of driving range. All models support fast charging at up to 150-kW and, according to Audi, can be charged from five to 80 percent in just 36 minutes. This is slower charging than the Genesis GV60, which is capable of charging to the same level in just 18 minutes. The Q4 e-tron 50 we tested charged from 10 to 90 percent in 44 minutes, with an average DC Fast-Charge rate of 87 kW.
